sa wheat

March 20, 2012

The bulk food sections of natural food markets have always intrigued me.  So many enchanting options.  Rarely do I pass by the bins without filling a bag or two with some obscure grain or wheat product.  Inevitably one of those bags gets lost in the cupboard amongst the packets of beans and is discovered beyond its (assumed) shelf life.  This time I kept the newly procured sack of wheat-berries from entering the bean abyss.  One of my favorite salads includes chopped almonds, red peppers, carrots, onions, dried apricots and parsley with a balsamic vinaigrette.  This salad has integrity.  Its chewy, tangy, nutty and sweet.  I like it…I like it a lot.
